Since 2020, More Than 2,200 Vermonters Gained Access to Full Suite of Xfinity and Comcast Business Products, Including Gigabit Internet
Vermont Business Magazine Comcast has announced that it has expanded its smart, fast and reliable fiber-rich network to make its full suite of services available to more than 1,000 homes and businesses in 11 underserved communities in Vermont, enabling the rollout of its Xfinity and Comcast Business services, including residential broadband speeds up to 3 gigabits per second (Gbps) and business speeds up to 100 Gbps. The service expansions Comcast completed since January 2021 include new addresses in Addison, Bennington, Franklin, Lamoille and Orleans counties, and builds upon the more than 1,200 Vermont homes and businesses Comcast extended its network to in 2020.
Over the last three years, Comcast has invested tens of millions of dollars in technology and infrastructure in Vermont, including improvements to its broadband network. The current network expansion is the company’s latest commitment to Vermont, adding to the 2021 opening of its Williston Xfinity Store and its 2020 expansion to homes and businesses in Arlington, Cavendish, Berlin, Derby and Peru.
“We have committed to investing in and expanding our network to ensure that more residents and businesses across our region have the important broadband connections they need for their educational, professional and personal lives,” said Carolyne Hannan, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Western New England Region. “We are proud to connect these communities with fast, secure and reliable Internet service that is built to meet their needs today and into the future.”
Residential customers in these areas will be able to take advantage of Xfinity’s full suite of Internet products, including:
In the past five years (2017-2021), the company has invested nearly $20 billion to evolve and grow its national network and, in the same timeframe, Comcast built 50,000 new route miles of fiber into its network. Investments like this also enable Comcast to provide Internet speed increases at no additional cost to customers on our most popular tiers, the most recent of which was announced earlier this month.
For local businesses, Comcast Business offers a suite of connectivity, communications, networking, cybersecurity, wireless, and managed solutions to help organizations of different sizes prepare for what’s next. Powered by the nation’s largest Gig-speed broadband network, and backed by 24/7 customer support, Comcast Business is the nation’s largest cable provider to small and mid-size businesses and one of the leading service providers to the Enterprise market. Comcast Business has been consistently recognized by industry analysts and associations as a leader and innovator, and one of the fastest growing providers of Ethernet services.

Comcast’s recent community partnerships in Vermont, totaling $2.3M in cash and in-kind contributions to local non-profits over the last three years, includes the installation of a Lift Zone – free WiFi service to promote learning in community spaces – at Spectrum Youth & Family Services in St. Albans. This Lift Zone is part of Project UP, Comcast’s comprehensive, 10-year, $1 billion commitment to help build a future of unlimited possibilities and the continuation of the company’s long history of giving back to communities where it provides service and where its employees live and work.
