The Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation has named Capria Dees as its Chief Diversity Officer. She has been in talent management for 20 years and began her career as a nurse recruiter at Parkland Health. She will lead as the human resources business partner, coordinate employee relations, lead the engagement committee and be the liaison for employee immigration issues. She will also lead the organization’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts.
Cooper Clinic is adding sleep medicine to its preventive medicine services with the hiring of Dr. Sonya Merrill, who joins the group from her solo practice Dallas Sleep Medicine Specialists. She will provide comprehensive evaluation and sleep disorder management, which includes sleep studies and home sleep tests. The Harvard-trained specialist will run diagnostic overnight studies, daytime sleep studies, and overnight CPAP titration at Cooper Clinic.
Pennsylvania-based InHome Therapy has acquired North Texas Home Therapy Professionals, a local contract home health company that provides in-home physical, occupational, and speech therapy services, which InHome also provides. The acquisition will add 50 therapists will expand the reach of InHome from Dallas-Fort Worth to Wichita Falls. Co-founder and majority owner of NTHTP Bob Wincowski will stay with the company in a development role, managing his team and continuing to expand services.
Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas has once again been named a comprehensive (Level I) stroke facility by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The program includes customized educational and support program and is bolstered by a neurovascular medical director and other support staff. The program provides 24-hour access to high acuity stroke therapies. The American Heart Association says that stroke is the No. 5 cause of death in the U.S. and No. 6 in Texas.
