Shots fired in a Panama City Beach apartment complex leaves one teen dead.
Beach police say the shooting happened at 79 West Apartments on Front Beach Road just before 2 p.m. Monday.
Authorities have identified the victim as Peyton Thomas Meyers,18, of Panama City. Authorities say they found Meyers laying dead in the walkway on the fifth floor from a single gunshot wound.
Four suspects in custody include Taylor Ann West,19, of Panama City; and Brandon Maurice Turntime, 20, Holly Christian Buchanan, 34, and Jefferey Amistad Clark, 25, of Panama City Beach. Authorities say Meyers, Turntime, and West believed that Buchanan was selling narcotics from an apartment building. Authorities say the trio then tried to rob Buchanan’s narcotics and money.
Beach Police say Meyers and Turntime, armed with firearms, forced Buchanan to turn in her narcotics and personal belongings. Authorities say at some point Buchanan armed herself with a knife, and another occupant had a firearm.
According to investigators, Meyers and Turntime pointed their guns at Buchanan, and Buchanan’s roommate fired two rounds, one struck Meyers.
Authorities say they were able to catch Turntime and West, after they fled the scene in a Ford White pick-up truck, thanks to a tip from residents.
“We got on scene here at the apartments. We found a white male [Meyers] that was deceased from a gun-shot wound,” said Beach Police Drew Whitman.
Authorities found the truck, less than half a mile away at the entrance of the Summer Breeze subdivision.
“We had some great witnesses that gave us a great vehicle description, a description of our two suspects, so without their help we wouldn’t be where we are right now,” said Whitman.
Authorities were able to detain Buchanan, and Clark. Beach Police say Buchanan gave Clark her remaining narcotics and money before law enforcement arrived on scene.
Charges for West and Turntime include Armed Home Invasion and Felony Murder.
Buchanan has been charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Tampering with Evidence, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Clark’s charges include Tampering with Evidence. All parties have been booked into Bay County Jail for first appearance.
Beach Police will continue to investigate, and are expecting more charges.
